WELCOME TO THE SECRET STASH!

Here you will find old work and general weird things I'm proud of.

ENTROPIA UNREAL:

A New Way of Level Designing

During my time at Mindark I worked on a MiniWorld that was supposed to be representative of a small scale version of what we would end up working on. During the creation of the "Lynnosphere" I took a bit of a unique approach which I am proud of.

Looking to make an organic world set my mind in motion to try to find the most organic of shapes and reference.

I started a very simple and flowing sketch to create a mood then I moved to layout. At the time my co-worker had brought in a mini microscope that could be view though a phone app. As I was investigating the world around me I thought about how I would want to lead a player around a whole island. When looking at the terrarium that was on my other co-worker's desk, it hit me: what could be more organic than a cellular super highway?

The picture to the right is the terrarium and the picture below that is a microscopic image of the terrarium below.

While this was mostly an experiment at first I believe this created a flow that felt natural with different parts of the level transitioning into to each other with ease.

JUST CAUSE 4:
NOT EVERYTHING IS MEANT TO BE FOUND

Because video games have the power to give people a truly unique experience, the most satisfying part of this job for me is hiding small details that only a few people will find.

This video is someone finding a plane crash I placed in a lake in the vast open world of Just Cause 4.

What caused the plane crash? Were there 2 separate accidents? What's with all the cars? Was it some sort of dumping ground or was there a curse placed on the lake after archeologists started investigating near by ruins? Who knows.

PART OF THE TEAM

I strongly believe that having a friendly and sometimes silly work environment is what keeps people motivated to love their job and produce their best work. Because of this I have sometimes spent my free time creating abominations for co-workers birthdays and farewell gifts. Here are some my favorites.

(Please excuse inside jokes)

ENTERING THE WORK FORCE

Graduating the School of Visual Arts computer art department was terrifying and exciting. It was a intense four years, but seeing my best 3D work together in one video was super satisfying.

A WHALE OF A TIME

One of the requirements to graduate SVA was creating a senior thesis. This is mine.

From concept to completion, this project took up all of senior year. My partner and I put all we had into it, and it was probably the most consistently stressful time of my life ... working everyday from 8am to 8pm, learning new skills because things needed to get done, learning time management the hard way, not knowing what you're doing, pulling all nighters with my friends so we'd all finished on time ... I miss it.

GONE FISHING

The largest part of my job on my thesis was modeling and set dressing. This boat is from there.

Fun Fact:

The interior wall of this boat is a reference to one of my favorite shows.

GOT TO START SOMEWHERE

My first ever reel made in 2015 consisting of modeling, 3D animation, 2D animation, and lighting.
